Angela Hodson
President and CEO

Angela’s first introduction to the Boys & Girls Clubs was in 1990.  With 20 years of experience working at the Clubs and other non-profit organizations in various leadership roles, she became President & CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston in January 2009.

Before returning to Boys & Girls Clubs, Angela served as Vice President of Development for Baylor College of Medicine (BCM).  A primary role throughout her five years at BCM was as Campaign Director for their Best Minds, Best Medicine One Billion Dollar Campaign.

Angela graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.A. in Journalism and played on the university’s women’s golf team.  She continues to enjoy golf with her husband and two daughters. Email Angela


Prentiss L. Collins, Jr.
Vice President of Operations

Prentiss joined the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Houston in June 2011 as the Vice President of Operations.  He is responsible for leading and managing Club Operations for the organization.  Prior to joining BGCGH, he spent five years with the City of Houston as a Division Manager and 17 years with the YMCA of Greater Houston in various capacities.

For more than 18 years, Prentiss has been engaged in non-profit management and community development.  He holds an Associates in Child Development from Texas Southern University, a BBM in Management and Masters in Business Administration from LeTourneau University.

Outside of work, Prentiss enjoys spending quality time with his family and playing and watching golf and basketball.  Email Prentiss


Yara Amer
Director of Development

Yara joined the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston in 2009 bringing to the organization nearly ten years of Development experience. In her role, she provides the overall leadership, strategic direction, management and coordination for all fundraising efforts.  Prior to joining the organization, she spent almost seven years with the American Heart Association in various capacities including Marketing Director and Sr. Director of Corporate Events.

Yara graduated from the University of Missouri’s School of Journalism, Broadcast News.  Recently married, she enjoys spending time with her husband. Email Yara


Connie McCarty
Director of Finance

Connie joined the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston in 1997 with more than 20 years of experience as an accountant.  She is responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, cash management and analysis of the organization’s financial reports.

Before joining our team, Connie worked in the oil and gas industry for Exxon and Columbia Gas Transmission.  She earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Mississippi and is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Texas. Email Connie

 


Everett Curl
Director of Operations

Everett has been with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston for 26 years.  He manages the organization’s 10 Clubs and is responsible for overseeing the facilities and Club staff.

An alumnus of the Clubs, he first attended as a boy in 1972.  Realizing his love for the organization, he was employed as a summer staff member.  After taking a short break for a couple of years while in school, he returned to the Clubs in 1985, making a long-standing commitment to the organization.  He's held a number of positions within the organization including Athletic Director and Branch Director of several of the Clubs. Hannah Fogler
Accounting Specialist

Hannah joined the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston as Accounting Specialist in February 2010. With 10 years of experience in public accounting, she is responsible for accounts payable, payroll, banking and financial grant reporting.

Hannah earned her Associates Degree in Accounting from Waukesha County Technical College, Wisconsin.  After becoming engaged in 2009, she moved from her home state of Wisconsin to Houston. Now married, she enjoys spending time with her husband and exploring Houston.  Email Hannah

 


Cynthia Batieste
Club Data Specialist

Cynthia joined the organization in March 2005 as Membership Coordinator.  She has been a part of the operations team as the Club Data Specialist since September 2009 managing government grant reporting and training staff on the use of the organization’s member tracking system.  Cynthia has helped enhance the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston’s grant reporting process.

Cynthia also serves as Children’s Church Minister and Finance Department Manager at Houston Praise and Worship Center.  She has a great-grandson, three grand daughters, one daughter and a son.  Cynthia enjoys watching classic TV and movies. Email Cynthia


Lisa Castro
Operations Coordinator

Lisa joined the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Houston in February 2011 as Operations Coordinator, supporting the Director of Operations.  She has a background in Human Resources administration and obtained her Professional HR Certification in 2010.

She graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Park and Tourism Science. Email Lisa

 

 


Jessica Goodman
Development & Marketing Manager

Jessica began working for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston as in intern in January 2011.  She assists the Director of Development in planning the organization’s charity events and works on various development grants and projects.

She also monitors and updates website and social media content and develops promotional materials for the organization.  She recently graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Houston with her B.A. in Public Relations. Email Jessica

 


Shon Dorsey
Program Development Manager

Shon joined the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston in June 2011 with experience in non-profit management and youth development programming.  He is responsible for overseeing program development, improvement and evaluation for the 10 Clubs.

Shon is an alumnus of the Boys & Girls Club of the Austin Area where he began attending at age nine.  He graduated from the University of Houston having earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a Masters of Social Work.  When not working, he loves to watch movies and sports. Email Shon

Pappas Restaurants Fundraiser Benefitting BGCGH
 

Pappas Restaurants held a fundraiser at their Houston locations where a portion from all dessert proceeds were donated to BGCGH.

 

We are happy to announce the fundraiser was a success and raised $19,500 for our Clubs!
